For 'Evanscent', I was thinking of a simplistic horror poster such as the film 'Jacob's Ladder';
The contrast of colours, the black background and the white face, leaves the audience feeling uneasy as it gives a sense of the genre that it is representing. This adheres to Stuart Hall's Reception Theory which coincides with them feeling ill at ease and wary as they know the codes and conventions of that particular genre, the psychological thriller.

Editing- Behind-the-scenes Photos
These photos show the behind-the-scenes in the editing suite. They show how we changed certain scenes, through the use of colour correction from colour to black and white, how to add video transitions and cutting scenes and moving them from one side of the timeline to the other, in order to create a cross cut effect to create tension and suspense for the audience, in order to keep them enticed.
Poster Analysis- The Others
This
poster is about a psychological thriller called 'The Others' starring Nicole
Kidman, The only colours in this poster consist of yellow, orange and
black, the orange, yellow glow of the lamp which the woman is holding in her
hand is the only source of light, it only lights one side of her face and the
rest of the poster is filled with black. The darkness of the poster could also
suggest hoe the film has dark connotations to it.
Nicole
Kidman is looking to her leftm this suggest to the audience that she is wary of
someone there, the way she is hunching her shoulders would also suggest to the
audience that she is fearful of something, almost gasping.
The
intended audience for the poster is most likely to be people who ave an
interest in the horror, mystery and psychological film genre, with lots of
suspense which keeps the audience engaged normally targeted towards young
adults, mainly females which require them to think and be alert.
Nicole
Kidman is a well-known Australian actress and having an actress like her, a
star performer in this movie means that potential audiences will be attracted
to the possibility that the film will be of the same quality as the actress’
previous works.
They
have the tagline ‘Sooner or Later, They will find You’. This will grab the
attention of the audience about the possibility of another being of some sort
who is after the characters in the film, which is backed up by the way Nicole
is looking around nervously around. Her expression of shock sums up what sort
of film it is going to be.
Poster Analysis- Shutter Island
This poster is about a psychological thriller called 'Shutter Island', which is directed by Martin Scorsese. The poster is promoting Leonardo DiCaprio, the star performer of the movie by showing his name in large, white font, which stands out against the dark background. The first thing that catches the audience's eye is the island with the white glow surrounding it. The audience then look up above the tower and see Leonardo DiCaprio's face and a match, which could highlight the dark times in this film.
If the audience look closer at the image of the island, it is made up of different photos put together. This image gives us a small insight into the synopsis of the film, suggesting that it involves an investigation trying to piece things together much like a puzzle.
Leonardo DiCaprio's facial expression builds a lot of tension in this poster. He seems to be frightened and confused and worried all at the same time.
The title font is written in a bright red colour which stands out against the dark background, the colour could also symbolise blood which further emphasises the thriller genre of the film.
The image of the island, can also further emphasise the psychological thriller genre, which shows an isolated institution, a quiet place to lock up all away all the people with mental disorders and problems, away from society. October is also written in red, amongst the white credits to make it stand out to the audience.
