Using Photoshop

I didn't really know how to use Photoshop when I first started and had a lot of problems understanding the controls and what to do and at that point, I still didn't have a definite Poster idea in mind, so I pretty much played around with a few ideas and some of my primary ideas were something along the lines of this;

The idea was to have a friendship charm bracelet, and have blood splattered across to generate an enigma through the poster for the audience. However I found it really hard to come up with any plausible pictures, so I then came up with taking a picture of Rosalie ( portrayed by Jakiya Sultana) and play with the word 'Evanescent' and what it represents through this picture. So in order to that, I looked into some Photoshop tutorials online and found this one which suited what I wanted and I copied it and tested it out before coming up with the end result. so to create my final movie poster, I used this particular Photoshop tutorial called 'Ghosting an Image with Photoshop CS6'. I took this picture and managed to change it to a blurred effect type poster through the use of this tutorial.

Throughout this tutorial I learnt how to convert a background layer into a smart object

I then applied the Motion Blur Filter

I then ended up with this image;

I then added a Smart Filter mask

This is an example image of the Smart Filter mask, I then used the Brush tool to smooth out certain bits like the face and body just to make it look more defined.

I lowered the brush opacity to 25% and chose a round, soft-edge brush to make sure that the difference between the blurry and non-blurry parts of the picture weren't that harsh and just seemed to blend naturally. 

I then had to nest the smart object inside another smart object so it effectively becomes one whole layer.

I then applied the diffuse glow filter to give my picture a glowish effect and I could play around and control how much glow I wanted in my poster.

After that, you had the choice to add a Hue/Saturation Adjustment Layer or just leave it as it is, because I wanted to add a bit of colour I decided to follow this step, I wanted to play around with the colours and get a feel for which colours would suit best with my poster, the genre, the picture, the whole idea behind my short film.

You had to press the Colorize button and then select the colour you wanted, I chose an orangery-yellowish colour to make it look faded and old.

After applying this effect onto my picture, I added the following Fonts as examples to see which one would compliment my poster better;

I chose the latter picture, added this little heading underneath to create an enigma for the audience;

And finally added the billing block at the bottom of the poster to give it more of a professional movie poster look that the audience can easily recognise.

After following this poster, adding the titles, and images I ended transforming this picture;

I also took another picture and copied the tutorial and made another picture and I added this into my magazine article just to create some variety for the audience.
